10 Dec Alessia Guthrie | Makerspaces and the Magic of Community
In this episode of the DREAM. THINK. DO. podcast with Alessia Guthrie discover what happens when a community comes together with creativity!
Would you want to live in a town where temperatures can drop to -76˚Fahrenheit? Most people wouldn’t. That means those who stay are there because they want to be.
My guest today is one of those people willing to brave the cold… and she’s living the DREAM.THINK.DO life do amid the frigid temps!
Alessia Guthrie moved to Whitehorse, Yukon, the largest city in northern Canada (population 28,000), and acted on her incredible spirit for service! She inspired a team of people to work together to create a maker space called “YuKonstruct,” where community members can go to gain access to high quality and innovative tools to exercise their creativity.
Learn about the philosophy behind YuKonstruct and the positive impact it’s had on the community, as well as how Alessia and her tribe got it up and running. Plus, you’ll discover her tips on how to adapt to new things and ways that you can drive creativity in a group of people.
When a community comes together it can create amazing things (including a giant cardboard Yeti). Listen in and find out how to get yours rolling!
