21 Oct 470: PERFECTLY OFFENSIVE – Don’t miss the opportunity in front of you! A SOLOCAST with Mitch Matthews – Founder of DTD
Have you ever noticed how much easier it is to get offended when you’re tired?
Or when you’ve given something your absolute BEST… and somebody throws you a curveball?
Yup. ME TOO!
Last week, I was traveling home after an incredible but exhausting week of working with some amazing leaders.
And as a proud introvert… I was officially PEOPLE’D OUT!
But just before boarding my flight, something happened that gave me a good reason to get frustrated.
You know that moment when you’re not offended YET… but you can feel yourself getting ready to be?
Yup. I was THERE!
Fortunately, I remembered a strategy I call PERFECTLY OFFENSIVE.
And that simple shift opened the door to an unexpected opportunity… and one of my favorite travel experiences in a LONG time!
In this DREAM THINK DO deep dive, I’ll share what happened and three powerful questions to help you stay open to what’s possible when life throws you a curveball.
Because sometimes the biggest danger of getting offended isn’t winding up ticked.
It’s missing something incredible that’s happening RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!
Let’s get to it!
WHAT WE COVER IN THIS EPISODE
- When frustration sneaks up on you: Why even the smallest curveball can feel HUGE at exactly the wrong moment.
- The opportunity I almost missed: What happened on my flight home… and why I’m SO glad I didn’t respond the way I was tempted to!
- A different way to think about offense: What if there’s a way to turn those frustrating moments into something surprisingly GOOD?
- The questions that can change everything: Three simple questions that have helped me get back to my best thinking when things aren’t going according to plan.
- What might be hiding in plain sight: Why some of our greatest opportunities might show up when we least expect them… and in ways we NEVER would have planned!
And here’s something I want to be clear about.
This isn’t about ignoring real problems, pretending everything’s fine, or letting people walk all over you.
It’s about recognizing that just because we have a reason to be offended doesn’t mean we have to accept the invitation.

LET’S PUT THIS INTO ACTION!
Okay… here’s my challenge for you this week.
Think about a situation where you’ve been feeling frustrated, disappointed, or maybe even a little offended.
Maybe it’s at work.
Maybe it’s a relationship.
Maybe something just hasn’t gone according to plan.
Now… consider this:
- What might I be missing because I’m focused on what’s wrong?
- Could there be something happening here that I haven’t considered?
- What’s ONE small step I could take to stay open to what’s possible?
You don’t have to pretend the frustration isn’t real.
But you don’t have to let it determine what happens NEXT either!
LET’S HEAR FROM YOU!
Have you ever experienced an unexpected blessing because something DIDN’T go according to plan?
I’d LOVE to hear about it!
