The Subtle Art of Noticing A Solocast with DREAM THINK DO Founder – Mitch Matthews

The Subtle Art of Noticing A Solocast with DREAM THINK DO Founder – Mitch Matthews

450 episodes. Over 337 hours of conversations and interviews. Thousands of hours of research. And if Mitch Matthews had to boil all of it down to one game-changing practice?

It would be this: The Subtle Art of Noticing.

In this milestone solo episode, Mitch reflects on what 450 episodes of Dream Think Do have taught him and he lands on a concept that’s been quietly showing up in almost every DTD conversation he’s had.

It’s a powerful theme and once Mitch saw it, he couldn’t unsee it. Whether it’s in your leadership, your relationships, your creative work, or your next big dream… this concept represents one of the most powerful skills you can develop… and one of the greatest gifts you can give.

Plus, Mitch shares a practical 7-Day Win Challenge you can begin… TODAY.

Episode 450 of Dream Think Do is a milestone but Mitch Matthews isn’t spending much time looking back.

Instead, he’s bringing Dream Think Doers a strategy and a mindset shift that has quietly threaded through all 449 episodes before it: The Subtle Art of Noticing.

The concept starts close to home. Mitch’s wife Melissa is in full-time ministry – leading two major programs that impact thousands of people every year. But if you ask her what she does, she won’t give you a title.

She’ll simply say she’s in “the Ministry of Noticing.”

To Melissa, noticing is one of the greatest gifts you can give another human being. Noticing a win. Noticing a limp. Noticing the person who showed up early to set up chairs. Noticing where God might be quietly at work in the big AND the small.

And as Mitch prepared for this episode, he started seeing this pattern everywhere – including in an upcoming interview where a guest shared how Melissa’s Ministry of Noticing concept helped her find peace and gratitude in the final days of her father’s life. True noticing, it turns out, isn’t passive. It’s one of the most intentional, powerful things we can do for each other.

The Art of Noticing Throughout 450 Episodes

Mitch walks listeners through some of his favorite Dream Think Do conversations – all through the lens of noticing:

  • Jamie Kern Lima (Episode 315) – How she noticed something the entire beauty industry had missed, and turned that observation into a billion-dollar brand. mitchmatthews.com/315
  • Amberly Lago (Episode 310) – How she practiced noticing – even from the back of an ambulance – to find gratitude and keep moving forward through unimaginable adversity. mitchmatthews.com/310
  • Jamie Winship (Episode 394) – How noticing the difference between our false identity and our true God-given identity can completely transform how we see ourselves and the world around us. mitchmatthews.com/394
  • Dr. Donny Jackson (Episode 301) – How a clinical psychologist-turned-Hollywood-producer noticed a passion for poetry long before anyone was asking for it – and how doing the work when nobody was watching is exactly what prepared him for the opportunities that followed. mitchmatthews.com/301
  • Jo Franco (Episode 416) – How she noticed something shifting inside her – even at the height of success – and had the courage to say a bold NO. The result? Netflix called the same week. mitchmatthews.com/416

Noticing as a Leadership Superpower

Mitch also digs into what the subtle art of noticing looks like in leadership – and why the best leaders are almost always the best noticers.

They call out effort. They celebrate wins. They create cultures where people feel genuinely seen. And as Mitch shares from his own coaching work, that kind of noticing can change everything – in organizations, families, and communities.

He also shares how noticing patterns in his own business led to the development of the Authority Bridge™ – his signature program for mid-to-late career leaders who are ready to turn their experience and wisdom into a profitable coaching and speaking business. The pattern was unmistakable: the leaders who were having the most breakthroughs, the most fun, and the most impact were those building something meaningful on top of what they’d already built. THE 7-DAY WIN CHALLENGE:

Ready to practice The Subtle Art of Noticing?

Here’s Mitch’s challenge – try it for the next seven days and see what happens:

WIN #1 – Notice Someone ELSE’s Win Every day for seven days, find one person and call out their win. Big or small. A thank you. A “well done.” A “I saw that effort – nice work.” It can be in person, a text, a social media comment – whatever fits. Just make sure they know you noticed.

WIN #2 – Notice ONE of YOUR Wins At the end of each day, write down one win of your own. It doesn’t have to be huge. Maybe you kept a good perspective in a hard moment. Maybe you tried something new. Maybe you finished something. Write it down. Acknowledge it. Celebrate it.

Seven days. Two wins a day. Just see what it does.
