I’ll admit it. I can have a short attention span.
I… like our 3 gold fish… can be distracted by bright shiny objects!
And I will also admit that sometimes those bright and shiny objects can lead to some new ideas and break through solutions. But sometimes… they can just pull me off track.
But… either way… this week… I NEED TO FOCUS.
Partly because I need to get some specific things done… and partly because I’m going to take some time off at the end of the week to spend time away with my fam.
So… yeah… this week… I need to be ubber intentional!
Who’s with me?
Do you REALLY need to focus on something this week? Do you REALLY need to get something done? Well… join me in my focus-ness… and let’s rip it up!
Here’s what I’ll do for my part:
Each day, I’ll post about a small but significant strategy that I’m using to get more efficient and limit the “SHINY OBJECTS” this week.
And you can join in by commenting and by telling the world what you do to get things DONE!
By the end of the week… we should get a whole bunch accomplished and maybe… just maybe… have some new tools in our bag for being even more focused and effective.
Sound good?
Let’s get started…
My strategy of the day: Planning for tomorrow at 4:30 today.
That’s it. It’s that simple. This whole week, I will plan for tomorrow at 4:30 today.
I’ll have my to-do list and my daily schedule for tomorrow, mapped out by 4:30 today.
So, before my head hits that pillow, I’ll know what I need to do when I get to my desk the next day.
(NOTE: Although it’s tempting to wait, I NEVER get as much done when I launch my day without a plan. How about you?)
That’s it. Simple but powerful.
What’s your strategy for day… or for the week?
Share it. Help me. Help you. Help everyone.
Come on… let’s get some *&^% done!!!
Thanks,
Mitch
PS – Watch for a strategy tomorrow! And hey, if yours is really good… it might be YOURS that I feature. And I’ll give you full credit… of course!!!

“Who’s With Me”
My tip: have a “two-do” list. Simply a list each day that contains ONLY 2 items that will be completed before accomplishing anything else on your long list of “to-do” items…
That’s 10 important done things, done in a business week!

I am with ya – I will get my list done before i go home. That will help me be able to be “home” when I am home.

Limit shiny object = keep your desk clean. This simple commitment can save me HOURS in just one day from the limited distractions.

I always list my “3 big rocks” for the day… the items I absolutely have to get done, and I post them visually by my computer/phone, and check them off when done. It’s amazing the amount of interruptions that happen in any given day, but by accomplishing the three most important pieces I set out to do, I feel as if I’ve really accomplished a lot by the end of the day. Also highly recommend the book “Zen to Done” on simplifying your life and getting things accomplished. Great book!
